News: Official UK Launch of 'Avatar' on Blu Ray & DVD

'Avatar' was officially released on Blu Ray and DVD at HMV Oxford Circus on Sunday 25 April, and Durrant Wapshott were asked to design, produce and install all the graphics to support this event.

Working in conjunction with Twentieth Century Fox, every conceivable large format graphic area within the HMV Oxford Circus store had an 'Avatar' graphic installed for the release event, with a large crew working instore overnight to get everything looking just right.

In all, we designed graphics for over 20 different areas, including the huge 8.4m high graphic wall that spans the 3 trading floors and the entire store front. These graphics were produced across a large variety of media including foamex, self adhesive vinyl, dibond, stoplight banner and digital wallpaper.

The Main Counter graphic even included a 3m long 'sculpted 3D' version of the film's ttle logo as well as pulsing LED lights to help bring alive the iconic image of the Na'vi face that features on the DVD cover.

In addition to all this, we also designed, produced and installed large format graphics for 30 different instore and window areas in 12 of HMV's larger stores across the UK, including Glasgow, Cardiff, Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham.
